RECEPTION THEORY is the way in which and audience PROCESSES the IDEOLOGY of the producer. These would be the PREFERRED, NEGOTIATED and OPPOSITIONAL readings.

Within the article, the audience is to be made pitiful because throughout the article they refer to her mental health issues several times and this will cause they audience to feel sorry for her. However, we also are made to dislike the court system because she isn't innocent and if she has been found guilty then that is the final reason and she should be sent to prison. Woodward herself is represented as being smug and middle class, through her expression in both images used. As well as this, the caption (anchorage) used on the front page makes her out to be happy that she has gotten away with a crime. 

In this article, women are made out to be hysterical, and that women become crazed for no reason whatsoever. Another thing being represented here is that university educated students are better than everyone and get more opportunities than others. Another thing mentioned is that she used Tinder and something stereotypical about this is that it is more of a hook-up app rather than an app for serious relationships, which could imply that she possibly enjoys sleeping around. 

An oppositional reading emphasises how mental health isn't properly addressed and this could be a breakthrough in that her problems have been acknowledged.

Analysis/Audience responses: Serif font is almost sophisticated and would attract female audiences as they would feel this is a sophisticated product. It is also stereotypically feminine. What do you think has gone particularly well so far this year? What are your strengths? I think what has gone well so far is that I am understanding more terminology this year and how I can incorporate them into my exams. I also feel as though I am quite strong in picking up the meanings of terms quite quickly, and therefore it is easy to be able to put them into answers. What is stopping you from achieving your goals? What threats might you face, (for example not enough time, lack of organisation, pressure from other subjects...)
